William (Bill) James Casey
February 27, 1956– November 8, 2019
San Ramon
"I want to thank every soul who touched my life."
Bill, an amiable and generous light who touched many souls, a music enthusiast, a fisherman/outdoorsman, a loving husband and father, an amazing brother, grandfather and uncle, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with neuroendocrine (carcinoid) tumor.
Bill, born in Great Falls, Montana, was raised by his parents Eleanor May Casey and William Joseph Casey (both predeceased). He grew up in Denver, Colorado and in 1972, he moved to San Ramon, California, where he attended Monte Vista High and was selected into the elite choir, Madrigals. Here, he developed an aspiration for music and continued as a Voice Major at Cal State Hayward.
While working at Safeway, Linda Casey (Schaefer) caught Bill's eye! They were later married in 1980. Bill actively raised their two children. Bill loved to volunteer his time and help others. He coached youth softball in the San Ramon Valley and was a music volunteer for the Walt Disney Elementary Choir. He founded and directed the Shining Stars music group and taught vocal lessons. Bill's Christmas parties were legendary. He would joyfully play the piano, surrounded by an ensemble of friends playing the trumpet, harmonica, and guitar, while merrily singing Christmas carols with the guests gathered around.
In addition to spending time with his family and friends, Bill loved traveling, fishing at Lake Topaz, skiing, camping, being outdoors at his cabin in Arnold with his beloved Golden Retrievers, and cooking his homegrown, organic vegetables. Bill's good-natured, altruistic demeanor attracted many true life-long friendships. Bill touched many lives with his generosity and passion.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, daughters Jennifer and Sarah (Bryan), grandson Lavi, granddaughters Riley and Sofia, brother Brian (Judy), sister Frances.
A Celebration of Life will be held December 15th.
